SUSTAIN OUR WORK. DONATE
Colorado JWJ Wage Theft Program
Robo de Salio

What is wage theft?
¿Qué es el robo de salario?
Wage theft happens when a worker is paid less than the full wages to which they are legally entitled.
• Overtime violations • Off-the-clock violations • Prevailing Wage • Illegal deductions • Employee misclassification violations

The Vision:
Our vision is to create a Colorado where all workers, regardless of their status in this country, are empowered to thrive with fair wages, strong protections, and inclusive opportunities. We aim to set a national standard for worker rights and equity in the workplace through collaboration, education, and advocacy.

Who Do We Serve?
We serve workers across Colorado, with a focus on low- and moderate-income individuals, BIPOC women, and nonbinary workers in the construction trades. Our programs specifically address the needs of workers impacted by wage theft, those seeking career advancement in apprenticeship programs, and union members striving for greater inclusion and leadership opportunities regardless of status!

A quiénes servimos?

This Program in Community:
  • Advocacy: Drive statewide and local legislative change to strengthen worker protections and address systemic wage theft issues.
  • Education: Provide accessible worker education on employment laws, wage theft prevention, and diversity in apprenticeship programs.
  • Empowerment: Establish resources like the Worker Justice Fund to support victims of wage theft and equip union members with leadership and organizing skills.
  • Representation: Create opportunities for marginalized groups to thrive in the construction industry through inclusive apprenticeship programs and targeted recruitment efforts.
Wage Theft Highlights:
  1. Advancing Worker Protections: Continue advocating for legislation to expand wage theft protections and strengthen enforcement mechanisms at both local and state levels.
  2. Worker Justice Fund: Establish Colorado's first labor-driven fund to provide financial support for workers impacted by wage theft, ensuring timely relief while their cases are resolved.
  3. Diversity and Inclusion in Construction: Expand the EPIC initiative to recruit more BIPOC women and nonbinary individuals into the finishing trades, ensuring equitable representation in the workforce.
